Please share the following information with anyone you know who may be interested in applying to the UI Secondary Mathematics Teacher Education Program. [Note that students must complete that program in addition to our Program B math major in order to receive UI endorsement for certification to teach math in grades 7-12.]

Note that failure to take the Praxis-I could easily add a full semester to a student's time at UI.

ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS INTERESTED IN MATHEMATICS TEACHING:

The state of Iowa now requires you to complete successfully a basic skills test BEFORE you can be accepted in a teacher education program. At the University of Iowa, students meet this legal requirement with either the computer-based or paper-and-pencil-based test, PRAXIS-I. You must complete the mathematics, reading, and writing portions of the exam prior to applying to the Secondary Mathematics Teacher Education Program (TEP) in order for your applications to be considered.

If you plan to apply to the Teacher Education Program next semester, you should register to take the test by December 1 of this year.

You may register and get additional information at www.teachingandlearning.org. Some materials are available on campus in the following offices: Student Services (N310LC), Elementary Advising (N257LC), QUAD advising, and UI Admissions.
