University of Iowa VIGRE Heartland REU
Summer 2007

June 4 - July 27
Applications Due: March 7, 2007
Stimulating, exciting, fun, and especially supportive for students with little or no math research experience, The University of Iowa VIGRE Heartland REU will host 18 Heartland Partnership math students to participate in a mathematical workshop and research project during The University of Iowa 8-week summer session. The academic portions of the Heartland REU will be integrated completely with the existing summer AGEP/Alliance program.

Support

The program will provide room and board for the summer, plus a stipend and additional amounts for travel, books or other supplies if needed. Students will be housed in a UI dormitory.

Eligibility

This program is designed, and funded by NSF, especially for students in colleges and universities that are partnered with the University of Iowa Department of Mathematics. Preference will be given to students coming from those schools, although other students are eligible to apply, and will be considered if space is available. We expect students generally to have completed two years of college, including at least a year of mathematics at the level of Calculus or above.
