The Math Lab
The Mathematics Tutorial Laboratory is a resource offered to students by the department of Mathematics. The goal of the Math Lab is to support students efforts by providing and an environment where they may receive one-on-one help from a tutor who is ready to answer there questions. Students will also find a variety of computer applications and other resources to develop and enhance their understanding. The Math Lab serves around 8000 students each semester and has helped many students reach their peak performance.Tutors
The tutors in the math lab are ready and able to aid students in their studies. The tutors are graduate students and many are T.A.s for the classes covered in the math lab. Students may seek out their T.A. for extra help or may ask any of the tutors on duty for help. With the variety of tutors in the Math Lab students will find someone with whom they can learn.Tutoring
The tutors will help students with all aspects of their understanding. They will help students develop a conceptual understanding and to learn to solve problems. Students are encouraged to come and ask questions on their homework, on lecture, or on background material. The tutors in the Math Lab will not give answers to homework and expect that students are looking to supplement their own work. Tutors will help students by discussing with them the ideas and techniques that will enable a student to be successful own there own.Special Topic Sessions
The Math Lab periodically offers mini lectures on topics of special interest. The special topic sessions are offered as supplements to many of the courses covered in the Math Lab. A schedule of special topics sessions is available below.Other Aids: Computers, Exams, Notes
The Math Lab has available many computer programs that students may use as study aids. There are tutorials covering most subjects that students may encounter. For some classes students may find syllabi, old exams, and lecture notes. Some of these may be accessed below.
