Bug?

It's come to my attention that in IE, the Downloads page appears to be empty, but that if you select the white space, the proper text appears. I haven't been able to replicate (and hence fix) the issue, but the files are there!!

Fractals Movies are Online!

I uploaded two versions of the UB2006 Fractals movie, a 640 by 480 high resolution version (34.5 MB), and a 320 by 240 lower resolution version (10 MB, compatible with iPod Video). Both are encoded with H264/AAC, which requires Apple's Quicktime 7 (or above) player. VLC (Windows / OS X / Linux) will also work. Click here to go to the Apple website to download Quicktime.

Welcome to UB Families

Welcome to the Fractals website! There isn't much to see just yet, but eventually all the movies and images from the course will be placed here. Please bear with me, as I'm studying for 3 Ph.D. qualifying exams, which happen in August. In the mean time, you can send me an email, and I'll notify you when the content is on the website. Homework #2 (Assigned June 27, Due June 28)

I'm going to change the homework assignment slightly.

Take the L-System (Axiom + Rule of Replacement) that you chose today in class, and make several pictures according to the following steps.
1. Open LSystems (in the Fractals folder) and input you Axiom and Angle. Make sure the iterations slider is on 1.
2. Push Render. This will render you Axiom state. You can change the color by clicking the color box to the left of the button called "Hide Rules"
3. Save a Snapshot of the axiom state as "yourfirstname-lsystem0" to your Homework directory.
4. Input the Rule of Replacement and click Render.
5. Save a snapshot of the 1st iteration as "yourfirstname-lsystem1" to your Homework directory.
6. Increase the iteration slider to 2.
7. Save a snapshot of the 2nd iteration as "yourfirstname-lsystem2" to your Homework directory.
8. Continue this process of increasing the iteration slider and saving snapshots until you have a snapshot named "yourfirstname-lsystem5". This will be the 5th iteration.

Tonight, I'm going to come to the Airport Lounge for two things: one, to help with any homework questions, and two, to do a little bit of extra teaching/tutoring on Lindenmayer systems. I think I confused some of you during class, so I've come up with a different way to explain it. We'll give it a shot tonight and continue with stuff tomorrow.
