The Tenth Annual High School
Mathematics Tournament at the
This years competition
brought together 152 students from the following schools:
Cedar
Rapids Home Schools
Waverly-Shell
Rock
The students participated in a total of four
"events". In two of these events (the "Sprint Round" and
the "Target Round"), students answered mathematics test questions on
individual tests. In the remaining two events (the "Team Round" and

At the awards ceremony, Professor Paul Muhly also announced that the twelfth grade winners in the
Sprint Round (Nick Brady, Iowa City City High School,
and Derrek Drexler, Wahlert High School), and in the Target Round (Eric Allen,
Waverly-Shell Rock; Derrek Drexler,
Wahlert High School; McCue, Patrick, Regina Jr/Sr High School; Oglesby, Madeline Wahlert
High School; Matthew Wheeler,
Cedar Rapids Home Schools) would each receive a prize of $100 from the
endowment started by the Fethkes and Mrs.Wegner.
Thanks to everyone who helped to make this tournament run smoothly, and thanks
most of all to the students who undertook the laudable effort at solving almost
three and one half hours of Mathematics problems on a sunny Saturday morning.
