    These materials are "proven" in two respects:

    Calc:TLC develops student skills

    First, the skills developed in this table of contents prepares students for later technical work. In a follow-up study of 2286 students at B.Y.U., our students did about better in six traditional courses and averaged 2.93 vs. 2.95 in a seventh.  (See summary and link below.)

    Projects let students solve real problems

    Second, conscientious students really do learn that calculus has important things to say about their world. I have met students on the sidewalk 3 years after the course who can still describe their project in detail. Calculus really means something to them and they began learning to write and think about math and work in teams in the process of working their memorable project.
