My office is in room 25N MacLean Hall. Find MacLean Hall New Math Modeling Course at IowaThis summer, Ben Galluzzo and I proposed, designed, and developed a new undergraduate course in applied mathematics at Iowa. With the help of the University of Iowa Department of Mathematics VIGRE grant NSF DMS 0602242, we developed a full semester long curriculum. During the fall, I co-taught this course with Dr. David Stewart and Ben Galluzzo. The course, "Introduction to Mathematics Research is aimed at undergraduate students interested in formulating and applying mathematical models. This course is listed as 22M:096 and will next be offered in the spring semester of 2009. More information is available here.Math Modeling Contest at IowaFor the first time in our history, The University of Iowa will enter teams in this year's Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM) and Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling (ICM) run by COMAP. With the help of Dr. Keith Stroyan and Ben Galluzzo, I'm leading an effor to recruit students for our teams. Our goal this year is to enter at least five teams of three students. Additionally, we've invited the member schools of the Heartland Partnership to join us in participation by hosting a workshop (led by Heartland faculty) here in Iowa City. The Heartland Partnership Workshop on Organizing and Coaching Undergraduate Math Modeling Teams will take place on December 1 in Iowa City. Please check out the website for more information. Awards and ActivitiesHere is a list of a few of the things I've achieved in my time as a student.
