PASSPORT AND VISA
Passport
Valid passports, preferably not expiring in six months from entry into
China, and entry visas are required to enter China. Once in China, you
are advised to carry your passports on you wherever you are in China
as the passports may be needed to check into hotels, book air tickets,
and change money.
Visa
If you have registered or plan to register with ICM2002 Beijing, their
secretariat will automatically take care of the visa issue for you.
This is the best and easiest way as it takes advantage of the
government commitment to ICM. Otherwise the foreign office of Shaanxi
Normal University will help. Please indicate whether you need such
documents on the registration form.
Once you receive those documents, you may apply for visa at a nearby
Chinese Embassy or Consulate General. The following are those in the
United States and some other countries.
A single-entry visa is valid for three months, and can be extended
for a month at the Foreigners Section of Public Security Bureau if
necessary. More information, including a Visa Application
Form, can be found on the
Travel Document Systems web page.
